Banamex Protects Business Banking Customers from Internet Fraud with Secure Computing's SafeWord Strong Authentication Solution; Largest Strong Authentication Device Deployment in Latin America

MEXICO CITY & SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov 15, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Banco Nacional de Mexico (Banamex), the leading financial group in Mexico, and Secure Computing Corporation (NASDAQ:SCUR), the experts in securing connections between people, applications and networks(TM), today announced the 2006 availability of Secure Computing's SafeWord(R) PremierAccess(R) strong authentication solution to companies and individuals that use Banamex's BancaNet and BancaNet Empresarial on-line banking solution. The initial deployment will be the largest in Latin America, and will be comprised of over one million SafeWord authentication devices made available to Banamex banking customers.

As part of Banamex's commitment to offer customers the most innovative technology and security, the company will deploy the SafeWord PremierAccess solution, called NetKey Banamex(R) to business customers and individuals to eliminate the vulnerabilities inherent with fixed passwords, which can be stolen, guessed, or intercepted over the Internet. SafeWord devices are small electronic devices that generate a series of one-time-only passcodes for use when Banamex business customers perform banking over the Internet. Because the passcodes can only be used once, they are useless if stolen. SafeWord offers end users a secure yet intuitive and easy-to-use solution for conducting internet banking.

"We are committed to providing superior on-line banking services and protecting our customers with leading-edge security technology like NetKey Banamex (SafeWord)," said Mr. Marcelo Scaglia, executive vice president of Banamex. "We chose NetKey Banamex because Secure Computing worked closely with us to provide a solution that was tailored to our needs, easy to install and deploy, and had the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) because unlike other offerings, NetKey Banamex devices do not expire." Added Mr. Scaglia, "Secure Computing has proven to be a valuable strategic partner and has demonstrated its ability to execute large-scale, complex banking implementations."

Banamex will deploy 300,000 SafeWord devices to business customers throughout Mexico as the first step of a wider deployment of SafeWord to Banamex retail banking customers. Over the course of 2006, Banamex will deploy hundreds of thousands more devices to the company's retail banking customers.

"Banamex stands out from competing banks because of the company's unparalleled commitment to providing safe and efficient banking services, so it's no surprise they would be an early adopter of strong authentication," said John McNulty, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Secure Computing. "SafeWord authentication solutions are gaining momentum in the banking market around the world, as financial institutions look to trusted security providers to secure their most important asset -- the trust of their customers."
